My first steps when picking an open source was to see what kind of projects the soccer community had. I saw that a lot of them had soccer simulation games which seemed interesting but most of them hadn't been updated for years and didn't seem to be interested in anymore updates. The other projects seemed to be soccer data. These were recent and interested me because I enjoyed making our website so I thought it would be a perfect pick. I picked the one with the most recent interactions and a license that allowed for contribution. The reason I picked to work with the soccer community was because it was the community I felt close to and interested in. I felt I could contribute the most to this community since I understand it.
Additional info I found in this project is that they have an API but seem to struggle with incorporating it. I saw this in many projects and the one that I picked. Alot of them were just json files and werent html. Most of them didn't seem to have an easy way of reading the stats. This is were I saw myself best contributing. I decided to make tables for the information. I started with the most recent season since it wasn't in project. I also want to contribute with a bracket involving the Champions league since most of the files had to do with the Premier league.
So far my roadblocks are with creating the bracket it is not too complicated but it needs a lot of work in the style sheet and it gets a bit hard to keep organized. Also I want to incorporate the API into the html but I am not sure how to start with it. My next steps is to make a Landing page so you can see the tables and bracket.
